Tiny is a juvenile box turtle who was found in the Pioneer Village in 2008 with severe injuries to his shell. The injuries were only a few days old and it looked like a predator--possibly a cat or raccoon--tried to eat Tiny. I took him to the veterinarian who treated him and healed his injuries...however, the injuries were so severe that he was unable to close his shell completely because part of it was destroyed. It is for this reason that Tiny will never be able to be released back into the wild. Tiny then lived at my home for about a year and a half and then moved to Team E.C.C.O in Hendersonville where he spent the next 1.5 years. At Team E.C..C.O he ate very well and grew very fast until he outgrew his enclosure. He is now back at Earthshine where he will live out the remainder of his (or her) days in a large outdoor enclosure safe from predators and teaching people about the Eastern box turtle and how we all can help them survive.
